(re)collection

A community exchange of oral and visual histories, guided by questions like: Is memory alive? How do we practice it? Who does it belong to? Provided with an assortment of recordings, videos, books, newspapers, magazines, photographs, postcards, and other memorabilia, participants were invited to reflect upon others’ memories in relation to their own. This page preserves a few artifacts from it with the generous permission of their contributors.
Co-organized with Anisa Jackson, with support from By Us For Us, Eyebeam, and Materials for the Arts in New York City, 2018. Exhibited at Babycastles and Abron’s Arts Center in New York City, 2018.
